MAS Charter School Recognized for Growth Among English Learners
Mikal Belicove

Our Old Coors campus has earned statewide recognition as a 2026 Spark Change Award recipient for Growth in Language Arts among English learners.

The award, sponsored by Changemakers of New Mexico, honors schools demonstrating measurable improvement in literacy and math outcomes for student groups identified through the Yazzie/Martinez decision, including English learners, economically disadvantaged students, Native American students and students with disabilities.

This honor is especially meaningful because it recognizes growth among English learners, students who bring language, culture and lived experience into the classroom while working toward meeting demanding academic expectations. At MAS, their progress is proof of what happens when high expectations meet strong instruction and focused support.

We are proud of our students, teachers, instructional coaches and school leaders whose commitment made this recognition possible.
