MAS Class of 2026 Senior Spotlight: Kryzt Mabini
Kryzt Mabini talks about high school as a series of opportunities, and what you choose to do with them. That perspective took shape during his time at Mission Achievement and Success Charter School, where he enrolled in the fall of 2021 as a 9th grader.

Running cross country for the MAS Bulls was one of the experiences that helped him grow. Kryzt says running kept him productive while offering a place to develop and use his athletic abilities. It also taught him discipline and perseverance, along with how to set personal goals and work toward them.
Kryzt also valued the community he found at MAS. He says the school’s diverse student body taught him how to adapt and connect with people from different cultures. He also appreciated the supportive environment, where teachers and peers were willing to help when needed, which made his high school experience even better.
When asked what advice he would give to incoming freshmen, Kryzt encouraged students to keep learning beyond the classroom.
“I would tell incoming freshmen not to be academically stagnant. In addition to what’s taught in class, take the time to read ahead and explore new things on your own. I’d also remind them that it’s okay to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them and keep moving forward.”
Outside of school, Kryzt has several creative outlets. He journals and writes poetry. He also enjoys fishing, and he spends time painting and drawing. When he wants to experiment with a new creative angle, he turns to photography. He says these interests helped him develop his perspective, expand his vocabulary, and explore his creativity while giving him meaningful ways to express himself.
Kryzt says one of the most important life lessons he learned in high school is that wasted opportunities can close doors later.
“Throughout high school, I’ve learned that if you waste the opportunities you’re given, you’re likely to miss out on others as well. It’s important to use your time wisely and make the most of every experience, both the positive and the challenging, because each one can teach you something valuable.”
After high school, Kryzt plans to attend Central New Mexico Community College to pursue nursing, and later transfer to The University of New Mexico to complete a bachelor’s degree in the same field. In the future, he also plans to study business at New Mexico State University so he can be prepared to own and run a winery. Looking 10 years ahead, Kryzt plans to be working in nursing while also managing his winery. He also plans to be married and begin planning for a family with his future wife.
Kryzt says he admires his mom because of how hard she worked to give him new experiences, a good education, and guidance on how to be a gentleman, while also supporting him through challenging times. He also admires his grandparents for the love and care they showed him, especially during times when his mom was busy.
When he is eating out, Kryzt’s favorite restaurant is Yoshi Mame at 4410 Wyoming Blvd NE; Albuquerque, NM 87111. He likes ordering the Lava Roll along with Takoyaki, and he says it is one of his favorite meals because of the flavors and the experience of enjoying it there.
Looking back, Kryzt says his priorities shifted over time, and the lesson stayed with him.
“Looking back on my high school journey, I realize I could have focused more on my academics and less on relationships. I’ve learned that to truly love and support someone else, you first need to love yourself and be mentally and emotionally ready. This lesson has helped me prioritize my growth as I plan for the future.”
Kryzt leaves MAS with clear plans and a thoughtful sense of what matters. That combination will serve him well as he steps into college, nursing training, and a future that includes running a winery and starting a family of his own.
