Meet The Team: Brenda Aragon, MAS Academic Support Specialist
Mikal Belicove

This week’s spotlight shines on an MAS operations team member who keeps behind-the-scenes systems running with precision and care. At our Yale campus, she supports teachers and staff in many ways, including by managing print and copy needs, tracking weekly student materials, and stepping in wherever help is needed. Her background in production and customer service makes her a natural problem solver with a sharp eye for detail.

Meet Ms. Aragon, in her own words…

MAS: Let’s start by asking about your focus as part of the Operations Team at our Yale campus. What do you do there?

MS. ARAGON: I provide comprehensive support to teachers and staff by managing a variety of printing and copying needs, including student lesson worksheets, weekly activity packets, and other classroom materials. I also maintain and update weekly trackers to ensure accurate and timely documentation. On top of that, I assist our Operations Manager with administrative and logistical tasks that help keep the Yale campus organized and efficient.

MAS: When did you start at MAS, and what brought you here?

MS. ARAGON: I started in August 2023 as an aide. Before MAS, I worked at Black Duck Screen Printing and Embroidery for four years. I began in the Clipping & Receiving Department, where I learned production processes, inventory, and quality control. Eventually, I moved into Sales, working directly with customers to meet their printing and embroidery needs, create quotes, and manage orders. That experience helped me build strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills that I use every day here at MAS.

MAS: What do you enjoy or appreciate most about being part of the MAS team?

MS. ARAGON: What I appreciate most is the genuine care that every teacher and staff member shows for each child’s educational success. It’s a place where people truly go above and beyond for kids.
MAS: What else should families know about MAS?

MS. ARAGON: They should know that MAS challenges every student to reach the highest standards while making sure they get a quality education. Your child will grow academically here.

MAS: Where did you grow up, and what did you want to be when you were younger?

MS. ARAGON: I grew up in the Barelas neighborhood. I always wanted to be a criminal investigator because I loved the idea of solving problems and uncovering the truth. That early interest gave me a strong sense of detail and a drive to keep learning… qualities that still shape how I work today.
MAS: What’s something most people don’t know about you?

MS. ARAGON: I sing! I was part of a Christian music band back in the 2000s.

MAS: Last question… What’s your favorite local restaurant and go-to order?

MS. ARAGON: Juanita’s Mexican Restaurant on 4th Street. Everything is delicious, but my favorite dish is Chilaquiles en chile colorado. She never disappoints!
