College & Career Readiness: A College-prepartory Program for All

At MAS, every student is college-bound-ready by the time they graduate, and we make sure they have the skills, knowledge, and support to thrive in higher education and beyond. Our college preparatory program not only prepares students for academic rigor but also equips them with the social and life skills needed to navigate college life successfully.

College Trips

Starting in 6th grade, MAS students visit at least one college every year through 12th grade, at no cost to families. These trips expose students to:

  • Two-year and four-year colleges
  • Large universities and small liberal arts colleges

During each visit, students explore campus life, dorms, financial aid offices, student support services, and academic programs, helping them envision themselves in college and make informed decisions about their future.

Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) Preparation

The SAT is not only the accountability assessment for 11th graders  — it is a gateway to college admissions.

  • SAT prep begins in 9th grade with strategies, tactics, and practice exams.
  • MAS fully covers SAT administration fees - no student is turned away from opportunities due to financial barriers.
  • Our objective: Every student achieves a score that keeps doors open to top colleges and universities.

Dual Credit Program

MAS high school students have the opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school through our dual credit program, in partnership with Central New Mexico Community College (CNM).

  • Students take the Accuplacer placement exam in 9th grade to qualify.
  • College and Career Readiness Counselors guide students through course selection.
  • Tuition and materials are 100% covered by MAS, ensuring equal access for all students.
  • Credits apply to both high school diplomas and post-secondary degrees.
  • Some MAS students graduate high school with an associate's degree fully or nearly completed.

College Admissions & Financial Aid Support

MAS College and Career Readiness Counselors work one-on-one with students to navigate the admissions process.

  • Students are required to apply to and be accepted by at least two colleges by fall of their senior year.
  • Families receive resources to support completing financial aid applications (FAFSA).
  • Workshops on scholarships, college essays, and interview prep ensure students are fully prepared.

With over 90% of MAS graduates being first-generation college graduates, we bridge the gap between high school and higher education, turning the dream of college into reality.
