MAS Class of 2026 Senior Spotlight: Jose Luis Rodriguez Molina

Jose Luis Rodriguez Molina has always made room for learning outside the classroom. Whether he is reading, collecting coins, or engaging with his with family, he says those activities help him appreciate the people around him and stay curious about the world.

Jose enrolled at Mission Achievement and Success Charter School in the fall of 2023, when he was in 10th Grade. When he reflects on what he liked best about attending MAS, he points to the structure of the school day and the support he received from his teachers. 

“What I liked most was the structure, which lets us take high school classes while earning college credit through CNM. I also appreciated the teachers, who helped us stay on track and succeed academically.” 

Through MAS’ dual credit program, high school students can earn college credits while still in high school.

When asked about his advice to incoming freshmen, Jose’s recommendations are grounded in the habits that helped him stay focused. 

“Stay organized and try not to procrastinate; getting your work done on time makes school much easier. Make sure to finish all your classwork and try to minimize distractions. Most importantly, take things one step at a time and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.”

One of the most important lessons Jose says he learned in high school is the value of taking initiative and completing tasks on time. He also says it matters to surround yourself with supportive people who have a sense of direction, since those relationships can inspire growth.

After graduation, Jose will attend The University of New Mexico, where he will study law. His goal is to become a lawyer specializing in family affairs. He says he wants to help families navigate important legal matters.

When Jose looks 10 years ahead, his vision includes both professional and personal goals. 

“I plan to be living in another state, owning my own home, and progressing in my career as a lawyer. I also want to be actively involved in my community, travel to see as much of the world as possible, experience the wonders of the world, and, most importantly, be happy and content with my life.”

Jose also shared that he admires his sister for her perseverance. He says she faces challenges and still manages to overcome them. He also appreciates the way she encourages him to do his best, especially considering that she is going to college while also taking care of her family.

When he is dining out, Jose’s favorite restaurant is JC’s New York Pizza Department (215 Central Avenue Northwest). He says he really enjoys their pepperoni pizza.

Jose leaves high school later this week with clear plans and steady habits that will support what comes next. The MAS community is excited to see the future he builds as he works toward a career in law and the life he wants to create.
