Picture this: It’s 2036, and you’re looking for a wedding photographer who understands the value of a moment. Who do you turn to? Perhaps that would be Rebecca Chavez, another of our most recent grads from Mission Achievement and Success (MAS) Charter School.

That’s because Rebecca expects to become a well-established and recognized wedding photographer within the next decade, and she gives much of the credit to what she learned at MAS since joining the student body back in the fall of 2019.
And her wish list contains more than just that. “I also want to have opportunities to work in different countries, own my own apartment and vehicle, and have mastered effective money management to secure my financial future.”

Regarding her future, Rebecca says she is committed to working hard to achieve all of her goals. She is excited for the opportunities ahead and looking forward to turning her dreams into reality.

She lists the value of hard work among the most important life lessons she learned at MAS during her high school years. That includes putting her best effort into everything she does, which she believes will be reflected in the results. “I’ve also learned the importance of being true to yourself, asking for help when needed, and staying focused on achieving your goals,” she adds.

Among her favorite things about attending MAS was how easy it was to make new friends.

“I enjoyed getting to know people and spending time with them, which made my high school experience more enjoyable and meaningful.”

As for incoming MAS students, she would encourage them to take high school seriously from the very beginning, adding that the choices and habits they develop in their freshman year set the foundation for senior year and beyond. “Stay focused, work hard, and maintain a positive mindset; it will make a big difference in your success.”

While becoming a respected photographer is her dream, Rebecca says her immediate plans include attending New Mexico State University, where she plans to earn a degree in business management. “I’m looking forward to starting this next chapter and working toward my long-term career goals,” she says.

Rebecca says she admires her parents for their support, and she recognizes that she is where she is today thanks to their sacrifices, guidance, and encouragement. She also notes her involvement in a wrestling club her father started, where she trained with other coaches and athletes.

“This experience helped me develop strong self-discipline and taught me valuable self-defense skills — both of which have played an important role in my personal growth.”

Outside of school, Rebecca enjoys watching movies, listening to music, and stretching with her brother after exercise. “These activities help me relax and stay calm, which has contributed to my personal well-being and balance in daily life.”

She also enjoys dining with friends and family and points to Chili’s as her go-to restaurant. “I usually order the spicy chicken wrap, which I always enjoy because it’s flavorful and satisfying.”

Rebecca leaves MAS Charter School with a clear picture of what comes next and the drive to turn that vision into something lasting, like a thoughtfully composed wedding photo.
