MEET THE CLASS OF 2025 — KEITH WORTHEN

  • Class of 2025
MAS Editor

With a strong imagination, a clever sense of humor, and a knack for multi-step thinking, our final graduating senior approaches life with creativity and a growing awareness of what matters most. Since joining MAS in 6th grade, he’s taken part in athletics, explored storytelling and strategy through games like Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering, and found his voice through detailed worldbuilding and writing. Whether he’s reflecting on a hard-earned life lesson or making intentional choices for his future, he’s guided by originality, thoughtfulness, and sincerity. Meet Keith, in his own words…

Enrolled at MAS: August 2018 (6th grade)

Post-High School Plans: Attending The University of New Mexico, working in a card shop, saving money, and supporting his family

Passions and Hobbies: Storytelling, writing, and playing Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering — all of which sharpen his focus and communication

Life Lesson: “Don't play "sick" if you're not actually sick. It puts your education in jeopardy. I almost lost my 11th grade credits because of this."

Q&A WITH KEITH

MAS: What advice would you give to incoming high school freshmen?

KEITH: “Drink a lot of caffeine — you’re going need it. Don’t sleep in class. And don’t procrastinate, especially in your dual-credit college classes.”

MAS: What did you like best about attending MAS?

KEITH: “Basketball and pizza lunches. Simple things, but they made the experience better.”

MAS: What are some interests you’ve developed outside of school?

KEITH: “I created a storytelling format inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, which helped me describe scenery and structure narratives. Playing Magic: The Gathering taught me to pay attention to detail, be strategic, and understand the importance of reading the fine print.”

MAS: Who do you admire and why?

KEITH: “My stepdad and my mom. They’ve been through a lot but still found ways to provide for us. They showed strength even when times were tough and always tried to give us more than what was necessary.”

MAS: Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

KEITH: “Living in a large apartment somewhere with free healthcare, being self-sufficient, and helping the people I care about.”

MAS: Favorite meal in Albuquerque?

KEITH: “The Lady in Red Roll and Fried Eggplant from Pacific Paradise.”

Keith’s creative spark, evolving perspective, and heartfelt appreciation for family make him a memorable part of the Class of 2025. With a strong foundation and an open mind, he’s well on his way to shaping a future that’s entirely his own.
