Meet The Student — Shastya Garland (Class Of 2032)
- MAS Students
At MAS, we enrich our math lessons with content from Khan Academy, giving students access to some of the most engaging and interactive resources available. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on a 5th grade student who recently completed 100% of both the 5th and 6th grade Khan Academy math courses!
Since enrolling in the fall of 2024, this student has shown an inspiring commitment to learning. Her love for math and science, combined with her curiosity and drive, makes her another MAS Charter School student to watch in the years ahead. Whether she’s solving tough problems, writing short stories (photo below), knitting a hat for her teacher (photo below), or dreaming up her next big adventure, she brings determination and joy to everything she does.

Q&A WITH SHASTYA
MAS: What did you like about taking Khan Academy courses?
SHASTYA: "I liked that when I got stuck, there was a video to show me what to do."
MAS: What advice would you give to other MAS students taking courses through Khan Academy?
SHASTYA: "I would say to do the lessons individually because if you get stuck, it is easier to find a video to guide you."
MAS: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
SHASTYA: " I already have it. I love to learn, and that means I can learn how to create other superpowers!"
Shastya's commitment to her education and her zest for discovery embody the spirit of MAS Charter School. We're proud to celebrate her achievements and look forward to the many accomplishments that lie ahead.
