Meet The Team: Mr. Samuel Webb, 2nd and 3rd Grade Math Teacher

Driven by service, shaped by experiences that built resilience, and fueled by the belief that every child deserves stability, support, and opportunity, Mr. Webb shows up for students with energy and a clear sense of purpose. Whether he’s making them laugh, pushing them to grow, or reminding them of their potential, he’s ready to make a difference each day, and probably crack a joke or two along the way.

Meet Mr. Webb, in his own words…

MAS: Let’s start at the beginning. Where did you grow up, and how did your hometown shape who you are today?

MR. WEBB: I grew up in Arkansas, moving around the state very often as a kid. That lifestyle gave me a real perspective on how challenging poverty can be for families. It also gave me a strong desire to serve communities like the ones I came from and help provide students with a sense of stability that I didn’t always have growing up. That’s something I carry with me every day in education.

MAS: Was there a moment, person, or experience in school that influenced your path into education?

MR. WEBB: Definitely. I always wanted to be a teacher when I was younger. But my parents told me I wouldn’t be able to support a family doing that, so for a while, I believed them and tried a few other career paths. After my third or fourth attempt, my father-in-law gave me some advice that stuck with me. He said, “Do what you love, and the money will follow.” That changed everything. I followed my passion and became a teacher. It’s not always easy providing for a family in this field, but the impact I get to make every day makes it completely worth it.

MAS: When you’re not at school, what’s your go-to food or favorite local restaurant?

MR. WEBB: The Grill on San Mateo (3300 San Mateo Blvd NE B2; Albuquerque, NM 87110). Shout-out to Veronica V. and JoAnn E.! If you haven’t been yet, you are seriously missing out. Live music, great vibes, and hands down the best burgers I’ve ever had. Go this week… and you’re welcome in advance!

MAS: Do you have a favorite quote, saying, or mantra you live by?

MR. WEBB: I do! It’s from Franklin D. Roosevelt, and it’s actually my screensaver so I see it every day:

I love this because it reminds me to keep growing, keep trying, and never get stuck. Whether it’s in teaching or life, progress comes from being willing to take risks and learn along the way.

MAS: What do you enjoy most about working at MAS? What makes it special to you?

MR. WEBB: MAS doesn’t make excuses. There’s a strong belief here that all kids can learn anything with enough time and support. I love being part of a school that truly believes in students’ potential and works hard every day to deliver on that promise for our community.

MAS: Last question… If your personality or teaching style were captured in a song title, what would it be?

MR. WEBB: 22 by Taylor Swift. It’s fun, spunky, a little silly, and makes you want to laugh, dance, and enjoy the moment. That’s exactly the kind of energy I try to bring into my classroom every day!
