Today we’re proud to shine the spotlight on a tech-savvy MAS Charter School fifth grader whose curiosity, creativity, and drive make him a student to watch! A proud Native American student from Albuquerque, this MAS student is already an electronics enthusiast with an impressive set of skills. From repairing laptops and gaming systems to building virtual machines and designing 3D models, he is currently working on a virtual design for a car seat and regularly shares ideas with adults on how to improve our school’s use of technology. Whether he is troubleshooting a device, writing an essay, or dreaming up future inventions, this MAS student brings passion, confidence, and a heart full of big ideas. Q&A WITH DOMINIC

MAS: What do you like best about attending MAS?

DOMINIC: “I like the students and teachers, but most importantly, I like the education. I get advanced lessons in math, and I get help with writing essays. I even keep them in my cloud so I can track my improvement and show my mom how good a student I am.”

MAS: What advice would you give to a new student on their first day?

DOMINIC: “Don’t be nervous because the teachers are here to help you. If you do your best, you can accomplish great things. Don’t listen to anyone who tries to stop you. Always be hopeful.”

MAS: Who inspires you most?

DOMINIC: “My mom. She’s fun but also strict; the perfect balance. She’s always hopeful, even in hard times, and she’s made big sacrifices to make sure I have a safe future.”

MAS: Fast-forward 10 years… where do you see yourself?

DOMINIC: “In college, studying mechanical and auto engineering. I want to help make vehicles safer and better, and save lives in the process.”

With his natural talent, strong sense of purpose, and love of learning, Dominic represents everything we value here at MAS Charter School. We’re proud to support his journey and can’t wait to see what innovations he brings to the world.
