By following the MAS uniform guidelines, students demonstrate self-discipline, unity, and a commitment to excellence.

At MAS Charter School, our uniform policy is more than just a dress code - it’s an essential part of our school culture, self-discipline and regulation, and high expectations. Wearing a school uniform fosters a sense of unity and school pride, removes distractions, and creates an environment where students can focus on learning instead of attire.

To ensure that all students have access to the proper uniform, MAS provides:

Three (3) uniform shirts (two short-sleeve polos and one long-sleeve polo)
One (1) MAS sweatshirt

MAS students are required to wear their uniform every school day and to all school-sponsored events. Exceptions for dress down days, school photo day, and other times when students are not required to wear their school uniform are announced in school, through email and phone blasts sent to parents, and through our social media channels.

MAS Uniform Guidelines

Bottoms: Students may wear black pants, leggings, capris, skirts, or shorts.

No jeans, denim, sweatpants, athletic shorts, or gym shorts. No rips, tears, or designs (including stripes).
Skirts and shorts must be fingertip length when arms are extended downward.

Tops: MAS-provided uniform shirts must be worn daily.

Options include a red long-sleeve polo, short-sleeve polo, or sweatshirt—all with the MAS logo.
No outerwear (jackets, sweaters, hoodies) may be worn over the uniform inside the school.

Accessories:

Hats, ties, suspenders, bandanas, large necklaces, and other distracting jewelry are not allowed.
Students may not wear long-sleeve shirts under short-sleeve uniform polos (only short-sleeve t-shirts are permitted underneath).
Cultural and religious headdresses (hijabs, head wraps, etc.) and protective hairstyles (braids, locs, curls, cornrows, etc.) are always allowed.

Uniform Compliance & Expectations

Wearing the MAS uniform is an expectation, not a choice. Students who arrive out of uniform will be required to:

Contact a parent or guardian to bring an appropriate change of clothes.

The MAS Uniform Policy - which is explained in full in the MAS Student Handbook & Code of Conduct is a reflection of our commitment to teamwork, self-discipline and regulation, and respect. Showing up in uniform every day signals that students are proud to be part of the MAS community.

Earning Dress-Down Days

At MAS Charter School, attendance matters and has a direct impact on student success. To encourage and reward strong attendance, we offer dress-down days as an incentive for students who consistently show up to school.

Here’s How It Works:

Any grade level that achieves an average attendance rate of 95% or higher for the week earns a dress-down day on the first school day of the following week.
Dress-down days allow qualifying students to attend school without wearing their uniform while still following MAS’s dress code for appropriate attire.
Announcements will be made each week to inform students and families about which grade levels have earned this privilege.

This attendance-based reward system reinforces the importance of daily school attendance while recognizing students for their commitment to learning. MAS families, thank you for ensuring your students are in school every day — your dedication makes a difference!
